Who is Amber? And why a blog?

College Graduation - Class of 2013
What better way to start my blog is by telling you about myself. In case you didn't read the little portion on the left side of my blog :( First, let me start off by telling you my name. My name is Amber. Easy to remember, huh? Okay, so I'm sure the reason why you’re on my blog is because you 'googled' about the TaLK program, and you might have some unanswered questions. Well, this is mainly why I wanted to make this blog. To share with you my experiences with the TaLK program as well as, answer questions you might have about the program and if you're in the middle of doing the application process.
Trip to South Korea - January 2013
So! a little about me, again my name is Amber and I'm 21 years old. I come from a family of one older sister and two older brothers. My Mom is a white American, and my father is from El Salvador. This makes me a mixed ethnicity, but in the eyes of the United States: I'm Hispanic. I'm from Maryland, USA and absolutely find this state to be very boring to live in. I guess this is one of the reasons I'm the type of person that's wanted to venture out of my comfort zone. I have majored in Elementary Education and love to teach. I've been involved in the education field since I was 14 years old. My sophomore year of high school I signed up to be apart of the Childhood Development program, which I took part of elective classes related to teaching. These first few years being involved in education set me on the career path to become a teacher. At that time, I shared a very strong bond with past friends from years before. These girls were Korean, and boy did I not know much about the Korean culture. However, visiting their houses and hearing them speak the Korean language while on the phone to their parents made me more interested in their native country. By 2009, my friend told me about a program called "Teach and Learn in Korea"  that her mother read in a local Korean newspaper. The idea of teaching, as well as being in a country that I'm fascinated in made it seem like a dream come true. At that point in my life, I told myself that I wanted to become a teacher in South Korea.

These are a little snippets about me, and I hope I have many followers to come (:
